Vanilla Dropped Cookies


Vanilla Dropped Cookies
Bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes
Makes 3-4 dozen cookies

Sift
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt

Cream and continue beating till light
3/4 cup shortening

Add gradually
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 well beaten eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup milk
2/3 cup cocoa

Drop by tablespoon on greased cookie sheet

Brown Sugar Ice Box Cookies


Brown sugar ice box cookies
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes
Makes 3-4 dozen

Mix
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs well beaten
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda

Mix in order, roll & refrigerate in wax paper, slice and bake.

Peanut Brittle


Peanut BrittleMix
1 cup sugar
1 cup white karo syrup
2/3 cup water
2 teaspoons baking soda

Boil until it threads from wooden spoon.
Add 2 cups raw peanuts.
Cook and stir constantly until caramel colored.
Remove from stove and stir in 2 teaspoons baking soda.
Pour onto buttered cookie sheet and let sit till it hardens.

No Bake Cookies


No Bake Cookies
Cook on stovetop

Boil
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk
4 teaspoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla

Do not boil
3 cups dry quick oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Boil together in double broiler for 15 minutes, remove from stove and add other ingredients. Stir really well and drop by teaspoon on wax paper or in little candy tins. They have to sit for a long while and cool.

Chocolate Brownies
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes
9x13 pan

Cream
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 tablespoons cocoa

Sift
2/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

Add
1 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Cream shortening & sugar, add eggs and chocolate, add dry ingredients, vanilla, and nuts.

Peanut Butter Cookies
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes
Makes 4 dozen cookies

Cream
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Sift
1 1/4 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Blend together and make into balls 2 inches apart.

CHEESE SQUARES


Cheese Squares
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes
8 inch pan

Mix
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup brown sugar

Add
1 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts

filling - make separately - mix well and beat until creamy
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 8 ouch cream cheese
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Pour batter in pan saving 1 cup of mixture for top, add filling and then the remainder of the batter on top.

Whoopie Pies


Whoopie Pies *****
Bake at 425 for 7-8 minutes
Makes 2 dozen cookies

Cream
• 1 cup sugar
• 6 tablespoons shortening
• ½ cup cocoa

Add
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 egg

Sift and Add
• 2 cups flour
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 ¼ teaspoon baking soda

Add
• ½ cup sour milk
• ½ cup hot water

Drop by teaspoon on greased pan.

Whoopee Pie Filling

Mix and cook on stove until thick and smooth
• ½ cup milk
• 2 ½ tablespoons flour
Cool until cold

Add
• ¼ cup butter
• ¼ cup shortening
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup sugar
• ½ teaspoon vanilla

Mix until thick. When ready put the filling between two of the cookies to make an oreo looking cookie. They are delicious!

Raisin Oatmeal Cookies
Bake at 375 for 15-18 minutes
Makes 2 dozen cookies
• 1 ½ cups flour
• ½ teaspoon soda
• 1 teaspoon salt
• ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 ½ cup quick oats
• 1 egg
• 1 cup brown sugar
• ½ cup oil
• ½ cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 cup raisins
Sift flour with soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in Oats. Combine other ingredients, add to flour mixture and mix thoroughly. Drop by tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Cream
• ½ cup butter
• ½ cup shortening
• 1 package cream cheese
• 2 Square chocolates or 2/3 cup cocoa
• 2 ¼ cups flour

Add
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 ½ cups sugar
• 1 beaten egg
• 2 tablespoons milk
• ½ teaspoon vanilla
• 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
• ½ cups nuts (optional)

Drop with spoon onto greased cookie sheet, dust with sugar.

Soft Molasses Cookies
Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes
Makes 5 dozen

Cream
• 1 cup molasses
• ½ cup crisco
• 1 egg

Sift
• 2 cups flour
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon soda

Add
• 1 teaspoon ginger
• ½ teaspoon cinnamon
• ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
• ¼ teaspoon cloves

Drop spoonful on a greased cookie sheet. You can sugar the top if preferred.

Mint Surprise Cookies
Bake at 375 for 10 – 12 minutes
Makes 5 dozen

Sift
• 3 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon soda
• ½ teaspoon salt

Add
• 2 eggs
• 1 tablespoon water
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Cream
• 1 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• ½ cup brown sugar

Roll into balls, push the chocolate mint into the center, rolling dough around it. When cookie is still warm you can place a walnut or sprinkles on top for a great finished look.

This cookie was most peoples favorite and I have never been to another house that made them. I sure there are people that have made them though. Try out this receipe and let me know what you think.

Yorkshire Pudding Recipe


Where it is taking me awhile to accomplish my goals, I thought I would add a recipe for Yorkshire Pudding. It is like a bread that is taste very good with roast beef and gravy. My mother made this often and I just love it.

Yorkshire Pudding (9x11) pan

2 eggs
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup oil

Put pan in oven at 350 degrees with a 1/2 cup oil, keep this in the oven until the oil gets very hot. After the oil is hot add the ingredients and cook until it rises and becomes golden brown.

GINGER SNAP COOKIES

Bake at 375 for 15-18 minutes
Makes 5 dozen

Cream -
11/2 cups of shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
add 1/2 cup molasses

Sift -
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cloves
2 teaspoons ginger

Roll one inch balls - Dip in sugar - place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart
